The Galway Cathedral

Today we made a pit stop to visit the Galway Cathedral. It’s located on the River Corrib in Galway city and is the most recently established of Europe’s great stone cathedrals. Built over an old prison location, the cathedral was dedicated in August 1965, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015. The beautiful structure was constructed in the shape of a cross and is filled with beautiful stained glass windows, a giant pipe organ and a painted dome ceiling. It also has a gift shop where several of us purchased trinkets from the visit.
